Tight, attractive and uncommon first edition of this Siberian Holocaust account -- a family torn from Lithuania and shipped 3,000 miles to a work camp in a frozen wasteland, there to remain for 16 years. Front flyleaf bears a fine inscription and signature from the editor/translator in blue ballpoint: "July 14, 2004 / To Lily, / Your spirit is as / wonderful and wide / as the view out / your window! / Be happy! Live! / Raimonda / Zita's friend." Lily Tolpo (1917-2016) is a noted sculptor and wife of noted Lincoln sculptor Carl Tolpo (1901-76).
