El profesor Leonardo Polo fue, en efecto, y por su extraordinaria obra sigue siéndolo, uno de los más grandes filósofos de la historia. Sin duda, el más destacado investigador del conocimiento humano, y uno de los principales referentes de la metafísica, la antropología filosófica y la historia de la filosofía. Es constante en su obra la dedicación al estudio de la facultad del lenguaje. Ningún filósofo ha dedicado tanto esfuerzo intelectual como él a establecer los fundamentos del lenguaje, a estudiar la dualidad de "saber hablar" y de "usar" el lenguaje. Dualidad sumamente innovadora que sólo podía descubrir, como hemos dicho, el autor de la teoría del conocimiento más profunda y completa de toda la historia de la filosofía.
