ALS, 1p, 10½" X 7¼", Oak Park, IL, 12 June 1940. Near fine. Addressed to Mary B. Day (1883-19…59, librarian at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry). On personal imprinted letterhead that also cites "Art Director / Armour and Company / Chicago" at lower left, Garson boldly pens in blue ink a cordial note: "I appreciate your kind remarks, in Etta's letter, regarding my menu article in Armour's Magazine. It was exceedingly generous of you, too, to send the Harrison Inaugural Ball menu. I feel indebted to you and will surprise you, sometime with an autograph. The menu is like the one I have but the fact that your grandmother attended the ball and this was hers gives it a personal value to me and makes it a very interesting addition to the collection." Signed simply "Andreas." The "Etta mentioned is Garson's wife, Etta Corbett Garson (1880-1968), also a painter and book illustrator of some note. With original matching imprinted envelope, addressed in Garson's hand.
