Laid in is a pamphlet (8 pp) showing some of the illustrations from the book from the Sacramento edition (second edition.) The corners, top and bottom have been bumped and are lightly bent. The top and bottom of the spine have rubbed which has lightly exposed the tips of the spine. The first edition was originally published in 1891 in San Francisco in a 89 page pamphlet.Covers have faded and the lettering on the spine is no longer legible. See Nevins, CWB, I., p. 188: This work greatly expands, and largely supersedes, Chipman's pamphlet.
