Bright Red and Gold covers and spine, beautifully decorated cover with Caesar crowning an athlete with a laurel/pine crown, a picture frame surrounds the cover with large bars featuring botanicals and smaller bars vertically with other organic symbols. All the printing is in gilt including the full title and author, the spine is less elaborate but with several of the same motifs and the addition of the publisher and horizontal lines made of dots, back cover is linen-like and plain red. book has been subject to moisture at some point in time and front cover is slightly warped and has some loss of color near the spine from top to bottom, spine is lightly soiled, back cover has some fading along top an one side and color loss near the spine, scant shelf wear, front end pages are foxed which continues through page 15, back end pages are foxed from 307 through the end, which is mostly advertising.
