"More messages of philosophy, obtained via thought communications with the space people." (Rasmussen, 1029).[Van Tassel was an engineer and UFO-logist who lived at Giant Rock in the Mojave Desert, where he maintained an airstrip, sometimes hosted Howard Hughes, organized yearly gatherings of UFO enthusiasts (some callled it a cult), and built the Integraton, a domed wood structure made of non-ferromagnetic materials with a rotating metal apparatus on the outside. Van Tassell extolled the Integraton capable of organizing accoustic and other frequencies (like a giant crystal) wherein humans could experience "sound baths." Wes Anderson's film Asteroid City seems to be riffing off some of the legends surrounding Van Tassel's Giant Rock complex]. Publication of this book coincided with an uptick in the numbers of attendees at Van Tassel's yearly UFO-enthusiast gatherings that began in 1953. In 1957, this event was covered by Life Magazine.
