Internally the age-toned pages are clean, unmarked and the binding is sound. Previous owner's name "Wade H. Manning 1889" written in ink on the inside board. Card laid in says he was on the staff of Wade H. Hampton during the War Between the States. Further research indicates he was secretary to Wade Hampton when he became Governor after Reconstruction.
