Sacramentshospitaal werd van 1586 tot 1840 gebruikt door de Anglicaanse kerk en van 1627 tot 1818 tevens door de Hoogduitse.De voormalige Engelse en Hoogduitse Kerkin Den Haag, destijds gelegen aan het Noordeinde tussen de Plaats en de Hartogstraat. Cum Privil'.Na Huis ten Bosch was het Huis ter Noot, aan de zuidzijde van de Bezuidenhoutseweg het meest opvallende gebouw aan de Bezuidenhoutseweg. Volgens oude verhalen was dit huis in de Middeleeuwen als kasteel gebouwd en dankte het zijn naam aan de moedige daad van een zekere ridder Geldolph de Kortenaer. De ridder had gravin Ada uit een belegerde woning gered en mocht zijn kasteel Huis ter Noot noemen. Er zijn nog twee van dit soort fraaie verhalen over het middeleeuwse huis, maar in werkelijkheid was het geen middeleeuws huis. Het werd pas in 1595 gebouwd in opdracht van Karel ter Noot. Van der Noot op dat moment kapitein van de lijfwacht van prins Maurits. Hij zou later gouverneur (commandant) van achtereenvolgens Oostende en Sluis worden. Daar had ons land (het was de Tachtigjarige Oorlog) garnizoenen liggen.Karel ter Noot had een ouderwetse geest of hij ging om een andere reden niet met zijn tijd mee, want hij liet zijn nieuwe huis een kasteelachtig uiterlijk geven. Veel huizen in Den Haag zagen er nog kasteelachtig uit, maar die raakten langzamerhand juist uit de gratie. Ze werden afgebroken en vervangen door een kleinere en moderner ingerichte woning. Een middeleeuwse woning stond niet als huis aan de straat, want aan de straat stond een muur met een poort. Door de poort kwam je op een binnenhof en daar lag de woning dan aan, samen met enkele bijgebouwen. Raadpensionaris Johan van Oldenbarnevelt kocht zo'n ouderwets wooncomplex, liet het slopen en vervangen door een moderner ogendhuis waarvan de voorgevel deels nog aan de Kneuterdijk staat. Het huis van Johan de Witt aan de Kneuterdijk had ook zo'n middeleeuwse voorganger. Karel ter Noot's huis werd ook wel 'hofstede' genoemd, een aristocratisch lijkend wooncomplex en misschien ook zijn bedoeling. View on the St. Nicolaas-Gasthuys in The Hague, Sint Nicolaas Gasthuis in Den Haag. This print was used in: Jacob de Riemer's: "Beschryving van 's-Graven-Hage." Cum Privil'.Het Haagse Sint Nicolaas Gasthuis dateert uit 1355 en was gevestigd aan de Grote Halstraat naast "'t Gouden Hooft". In 1904 verhuisde het Gasthuis naar een monumentaal pand aan de Amsterdamse Veerkade. Tot ca. 1965 was het Gasthuis in gebruik.Al omstreeks 1355 stond in Den Haag het Sint-Nicolaasgasthuis. Het gasthuis stond vlakbij de Grote Kerk op de hoek van de huidige Hoogstraat. Het gasthuis diende voor de opvang van zwervers, die één nacht in de verwarmde zaal van het gasthuis (de baaierd) mochten slapen. Deze baaierd is eeuwenlang in gebruik geweest.Het Sint-Nicolaasgasthuis had ook een speciale afdeling voor zieken zonder geld. Waarschijnlijk was het Sint-Nicolaasgasthuis eigenlijk gebouwd voor arme medewerkers van het hof.In 1400 liet de Hollandse graaf Albrecht van Beieren het Sint-Nicolaasgasthuis uitbreiden en schonk hij het geld voor de bouw van de Sint-Nicolaaskapel aan de overkant van de straat. The Treveszaal in The Hague [de Treveszaal in Den Haag], in the Binnenhof. This astonishingly beautiful room was originally erected for the negotiations during the Eighty Years' War. Nowadays it hosts the meetings of the Dutch Cabinet.Titled below: 'TREVES-KAMER VAN HAAR HOOGMOG. DE STATEN GENERAAL DER VEREENIGDE NEDERLANDEN.' Original folds as issued, with some tears along the fold lines, backed. Small tear in left and right paper edges. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
