(CAD) First Edition. illus card covers, side-stapled, 128pp. This is a book of Canadian recipes compiled for the use of flavouring made by the R.W. Love company of Toronto ( "LOVE--The Flavor Man"). In her Foreword, Dutton memtions the year (1940) and the testing of the recipes at the Homecraft theatre in Winnipeg. There must be 300 recipes in this booklet ranging from appetizers to Cakes and Cookies. Where people have submitted recipes, their names have been included: Mrs. Fenby's Loves Pecan-Caramel Rolls. Mrs. Woodley's Maple walnut cake, canadian Apple tars, Miss Bottomley's Jelly Trifle. The Love company is now defunct, so the modern cook will have to find substitutions to the flavouring extracts, but this is an excellent collection of pre-1940s recipes especially strong in cakes, pastries, Small cakes and cookies. No markings, tiny skinned spot to last page, light rubbing to cover edges, VG. (1.2 JM HOX 1/a15 Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
