Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. John Ridgway, Elsie Pearson (illustrator). 2nd Edition. World Book Company, New York. 1930. Hardcover. Stated revised edition of the 1925 First Edition by World Book Co. thus 2nd Edition. Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for a gift inscription on the front pastedown and a label with a personal library number on the FFFP. Book Condition: Very Good; suntanning to spine; light shelfwear to head, tail, and tips; light foxing to endpapers. Blue cloth boards and spine with dark brown lettering on the spine and front board; grass land picture with birds on front board. Clean internals. Inner hinges are sound and not split. Color frontispiece photo of birds. 236 pp 12mo. In this book the author does not present birds as in a textbook, but more as a biography of that species of bird. The author presents 20 species of birds and describes them as he sees them on a field walk explaining their territory, breeding, eating, and nesting. Probably designed as a text this reads more like a family biography. A clean very presentable copy.
