Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Hardcover with DJ. Full cloth with thick natural colored buckram, with black and red decorations and lettering on cover and spine. Overall nice and clean, but there is a small, darker, spot (thumb sized) where the publisher's name is printed on the spine). Original pictorial DJ with price of $5.00 on the flap. George Salter designed jacket, white background darkened on the spine, pretty clean elsewhere. DJ protected with mylar sleeve. Text block and pages clean throughout. Title page dated 1962. Copyright page says this is the 2nd impression, and calls this The 1962 Edition. It was first published in the UK in 1954 and in the US in 1955. By 1962 (this edition) the published was already calling it a Modern Classic (on the front cover). 243 pages + biography of author. This copy has a green piece of paper tipped in at the front, slightly smaller than the pages of this book, signed by William Golding. Beneath his name, he's written Bowerchalke UK (where he moved in 1958). The page with the signature has been neatly tipped in at the front, between the endpapers of this volume, which are also green. Quite nice. Signed copies of Lord of the Flies are scarce, even arranged marriages like this one. Please email with questions. Signed by Author(s).
