"Erste Ausgabe. ? Diese "bibliophile Kostbarkeit" (Fitzon) ist die einzige selbständige Veröffentlichung des Militäringenieurs Ludwig Goro von Agyagfalva (1786-1843) aus Siebenbürgen. "In den Feldzügen 1813-14 diente er bei der Armee in Italien, und erhielt nach hergestelltem Frieden die Bestimmung nach Dalmatien. Hier widmete er sich in seinen freien Stunden dem Studium der Archäologie . Auf dem Zuge nach Neapel im J. 1821 lernte er die Ruinen von Pompeji kennen und alsbald faßte er die Idee, diese merkwürdige Stadt zu beschreiben . Die bourbonisch-herculanische Akademie zu Neapel und die archäologische Gesellschaft zu Rom hatten G. zum Mitgliede ernannt."
