No significant faults - a few tanning spots to edges and top edge seems to be dark tinted rather than dusty, Brown cloth covers clean, bright and unmarked, unclipped jacket has a number of small tanning spots and other small marks, darkened spine with chip across top, remains well above average for jacket of this age however and will add protective sleeve when ordered. Uncommon.

Holyoake war der letzte Engländer, der für das Meinungsdelikt "Atheismus" eine Haftstrafe verbüßen musste. Nach seiner Freilassung prägte Holyoake den Ausdruck 'secularism' um seine Auffassungen zu bezeichnen und vertrat sie in den dreißig Jahrgängen der von ihm 1846 gegründeten Zeitschrift The Reasoner. Ein gegen ihn von der Regierung anhängig gemachter Prozess führte zur Abschaffung des Zeitungsstempels in England; auch war Holyoake wesentlich an der Verabschiedung jenes Gesetzes beteiligt, (Evidence amendment act von 1869), welches der bürgerlichen Versicherung gleiche Rechtskraft wie dem christlichen Eid gewährte (Wikipedia). --- Charles William Frederick Goss (18641946) was an English librarian, polemicist and cataloguing innovator.
