Softcover. Condition: g. First edition. Quarto. 289 (3)pp. Original cream wraps with red and black lettering on cover, black on spine. Beveled edges. Sociological study of the Arab child based on information gathered by the author during two visits of altogether three years in Palestine between 1925-1931. "This book is the first part of my study on the Arab child. The second part which I will call 'Child Problems among Muhammadan Arabs' is ready in manuscript, but owing to post-war difficulties it can only be published later (it was published in 1950). It will include an Index, a list of Biblical Parallels, and References. This work can be read independently of my work on marriage but can also be taken as a continuation of it. Both works treat the same group of people. Both of them are based chiefly upon the experience of Arab folk-life and Arab customs and habits which I obtained in the village of Artas which lies south of Bethlehem on the edge of the desert" (author). The work treats pre- and post-natal customs, birth, mother and babe, play and work, education and character, and circumcision in the broader sociological context. Includes three pages of books published by author at rear. Wrappers with wear along edges, small tears and chips at head and tail of spine, and a few small stains on back wrapper. Starting at half title. Previous owner's stamp on half title. Minor age toning. Wrappers and interior in overall good condition.
