Cover worn at extremeties but hinges still sound. 1st undated, 2nd printed 1801. Spine has 1803 (presumably when bound) & E Bunting & Fotheringh at bottom.

Association copy signed on 2nd title page by Walter Savage Landor (although here signed "Walter Landor") 2 works in 1 of the collected poems by these two poets. The first work by Armstrong has a brief life of the author of 10 pages and 88 pages + engraved plate and woodcut tail pieces. The 2nd work by Gray has 26 pages of biography and 71 pages of poetry with an engraved plate as the other work. Front blank endpaper torn with loss and some aging to paper and reverse of plates a little stained, but quality rag paper used, so still in good condition, quarter calf and marbled paper boards worn and rubbed. 12 mo (bound in 6's) *NOTE: The signature although not using the middle name is by the poet as can be seen in the image provided. He was born in 1775 and this was published in 1796, so a young man at the beginnings of his life and career. Which might explain the lack of the middle name Savage? One marginal note also in the same hand noted in Gray's work with an aside to Homer. Sold as genuine. Association copy.
