Hardcover. Condition: vg. 12mo. 260 numbered pages & 12 blank leaves bound in original dark green velvet with folding flap and heart-shaped metal lock. Lacking clasp. Marbled endpapers, inside of flap marbled. Oval hand-colored paste-down frontispiece, title-page also with small hand-colored paste-down. Bottom margin of title-page with note by writer of manuscript: "geschrieben von Aug. Grieger(?)_ _ als Andenken für meine_ _ _ _ _ _ 1828." Manuscript contains over 150 Catholic prayers. Heading of each prayer in decorative red and blue lettering. 12 blank leaves in rear. Fourteen (3" x 4") manuscript leaves from the period, laid-in. Not in same handwriting as prayer book manuscript. Three identical (2" x 2 3/4") illustrated "Andenken an Andechs" (Andechs memorial cards) with engraving, golden borders and decorative edges, also laid-in. Engraving shows a protective Mother Mary over the town of Andechs. Prayer printed in German, gothic script on verso of card. Some age wear and staining on velvet. Rubbing and very slight chipping on head and tail of spine. Interior in very good to near fine condition.
