Hardcover. Illustrations by Harold McDonald. Small 4to. Brown cloth with gilt lettering and decoration. xiii, 496pp. 8 line drawings. Near fine. A handsome first edition of this west central Indiana county history -- a presentation copy boldly signed and inscribed by the author in blue ballpoint on inner flyleaf: "Autographed for George David Manson / inheritor of the pioneer tradition. / Theodore G. Gronert." Manson (1926-2006) was a long-time employee of the Chicago printer R.R. Donnelley and Sons ("who printed and bound this book," notes Gronert) and is mentioned in the text -- as is quite often his ancestor, Major General Mahlon Dickerson Manson (1820-95).
