Hard Cover. Condition: Fair. No Jacket. Marshman, Lieut-colonel (illustrator). No dustwrapper, quite a lot of wear to spine, with a two-inch tear to upper rh side, wear to the ends and to edges, and has turned from blue to brown; but gilt titles thereon are still clear, as is the illustration of a soldier. Bumping and some shelf-wear to edges and corners of bevelled-edged boards but gilt titles, red author's name and badge of 33rd Foot, and black illustration of two Indian cavalrymen all still clear. A previous owner's name and date (1894) on f/ep, binding starting to come loose at several places in the book, otherwise a not too terrible copy of this hard-cover book, a story for boys in similar vein to G A Henty's works. This one is set in the late eighteenth century and mostly involves events in the British campaign against Tippoo Sultan and the capture of Seringapatam. 320pp plus 16pp adverts, 12 full-page b&w illustrations (one loose and a bit creased). Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
