251 pp. Engraved plates. 16mo, old mottled calf; gilt spine. Later edition. 1797 ownership signature; joints cracked (cords holding); some shallow chipping to extremities of spine. The title pages states both "Two Volumes in One" and "Vol. I"--the text is complete herein in one volume. Cooke's Pocket Edition of Select Novels.

1st Edition. Original 1/2 leather, marbled paper covered boards, gilt on dark red title label mounted on upper spine. Leather shows rubbing, separated along front joint but still firmly anchored by binding cords, some surface rubbing to boards. Undated but showing signature of former owner Joseph Bell at top corner of main title, dated 1797, and thus likely the first edition, from 1781 (as the second dates to 1799, two years after this signature). xii,13-251 pp., illus. w/ engraved plates. Size: 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. Book.
