John Hamilton, Chair of the RNC: "Lo and Behold!" on the appointment of a White House spokesperson, a position vacant for the last 12 years. 3pp, first page detached from staple,some fairly pronounced chipping on the right edge leading to the loss of two words. GOOD. There are many, many droll and dripping complaints lodged against the FDR presidency (in power at this point for five years), including a major complaint in raising the amount of taxes charged against the "national income" from 4% to 10% in four years. Outraged as he was, Hamilton could not see into the future, when in 2010 the tax rate as a percentage of GDP was 24.9%. That may sound like a lot, relative to 1938, but in fact it ranks the U.S. #32 of 34 OECD countries, only Mexico and Chile with a lower percentage--and this falling from being #16 of 24 in 1979 with a rate of 26%.
