Cloth - Hardbacks. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. - (illustrator). FIRST EDITION & FIRST PRINTING. Unusual book as it is written under author's pseudonym: Sarah Stamford. Real name is Margery Weiner. Book is signed with both names on the blank page opposite the full title page. Dedication reads: For Mrs Jane Ashley with many thanks for very kind help over many years and all good wishes from Sarah Stamford (Margery Weiner) August 1982. - There were also 3 small newspaper clippings inside this book and the buyer will get these too. They relate to: The King's shilling being passed over to Gordon Highlander Recruits by Jane The Duchess of Gordon who is said to have passed each one with a kiss and it was in her lips/mouth. Small one intimates that Margery saw a likeness between The Princess of Wales and The Duchess of Gordon. The final clip relates about the Garden Memorial left in honour. - Margery Weiner [Sarah Stamford] was a notable Napoleonic scholar and first head of The Daily Telegraph, information bureau. CONDITION & DESCRIPTION OF THE BOOK: The original dustjacket accompanies this book. Price clipped. Few small chips, top and bottom of spine and corners. Few small closed edge tears. Now housed in a plastic archival sleeve. Boards red/black mottled. Very nice clean condition. First blank endpage removed. Few very light scuffs to full title page [I removed the newspaper clippings from there, but it looks fine. 222 pages clean and tightly bound. Light foxing is occasional. - Thanks for your interest. - E N D - Our orders are shipped within 1 or 2 business days. - Thanks for your interest and I hope you like the book enough to buy it.
