Very worn copy of this two-volume work important mainly for having the engraved bookplate of American patriot Jeremiah Wadworth at the front of each volume. Wadsworth was a merchant and sea captain who represented Connecticut in the Continental Congess, and later, the US House of Representatives. The bookplate appears in Allen's American Bookplates as the first full page illustration. Full sheep, 310 + 307, [5] pages. Covers somewhat scorched and heavily chipped, spine coverings absent, frontis illustration lacking, text blocks shaky, dampstaining to top edges near the end of the first volume, worming to the bottom edges near the end of both volumes, pages age-toned. Bookplates, which are mounted on the pastedowns, are somewhat age-toned but unchipped. First Edition. Hard Cover. Poor. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.
