He typically performed in full Scottish regalia and eventually became the highest-paid performer in the world in 1911. After the outbreak of World War I, he promoted recruitment, led fundraising efforts, and st…arred in many concerts for troops. His most famous songs were, "Roamin' in the Gloamin'", "A Wee Deoch-an-Doris", "The End of the Road" and "I Love a Lassie".GROCK (1880-1959). Grock, born Charles Adrien Wettach, was a Swiss clown. He was once the highest paid entertainer in Europe. He began performing in circuses in 1894 after traveling with a caravan of Roma and came to be called the king of clowns.
