Cloth. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Poor. Small 8vo, 271 pp., b/w plates. Thaw was the murderer of architect Stanford White. Head and heel of spine bumped, covers handled and dustsoiled, small stain to rear board, insect damage to bottom of rear hinge, page edges tanned and dusty, slight discoloration to endpapers, previous owner's initials on front free endpaper, otherwise unmarked. Jacket priceclipped, worn, stained and dustsoiled, with numerous chips and tears, insect damage, tape-repair.

Vintage eccentrically written first-hand account of the scandalous events surrounding the 1907 trial of the author for the murder of Stanford White, dubbed at the time, "The Trial of the Century." Illustrated with photos.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good-Very Good. None Stated. A 1926 memoir by the murderer of renowned architect Stanford White. After two sensationalized trials he was found not guilty by reason of insanity and sentenced to incarceration for life at the Matteawan State Hospital for the Criminally Insane in Fishkill, New York. In 1913 Thaw walked out of Matteawan and fled to Canada. He returned to the US and in December 1914 was extradited to New York. In a 1915 trial he was found no longer insane and set free. The 1926 memoir was intended to vindicate White's murder. Thaw never regretted what he had done. Twenty years after taking White's life, he said: "Under the same circumstances, I'd kill him tomorrow." Illustrated with numerous b&w photographs. It is married to a mid 1940s Argus/Abramson DJ. Some edge wear to the DJ with a number of small chips. Light soiling to the rear panel. Bright red boards with sharp black lettering. Overall a very good copy.
