Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. E. W. Haslehust (illustrator). Beautiful Oxford, described by F. D. How, pictured by E. W. Haslehust, published by Blackie & Son Limited, London and Glasgow. No date. A good bit of history in the text, which combined with the 12 Haslehust paintings make this quite a lovely book. There's no dust jacket, but this copy is very good condition. There are a few little bumps to the cover edges, and the pages have yellowed with time, although evenly and it doesn't detract from the reading. Otherwise the pages are clean and unmarked from beginning to end.

No inscriptions and neatly price clipped, although it still shows the original price sticker of 2 shillings and 6 pence in red. Charming old ex-libris sticker. The DJ is in pretty good condition considering that this book is circa 1940. Intact, although the white edges have faded. The corners of DJ are still very good. Small neatly repaired nick at bottom, back of DJ. There is hardly any shelfwear. The book itself is in quite remarkably good condition considering its age. Probably because the cream paper is thick and of good quality . The pages are clean and bright and the spine is tight. 63 pages with colour illustrations of Trafalagar Square, Admiralty Arch, Westminster Abbey, Gatehouse St. James' Palace, The Sunk Garden, Kensington Palace, Whitehall from St. James' park, St. John's Gatehouse Clerkenwell, The Thames from below Waterloo Bridge, "The Grapes" Limehouse, River Steps Waterloo Bridge and Houses of Parliament from the Embankment. This is an excellent copy even if DJ is faded.

Edition/Printing not stated. Book is tight, square, and unmarked but for a F/O name stamp on the front pastedown. Book Condition: Very Good; light toning to peripheral edges of boards; light foxing to endpapers. DJ: Good +; Price Clipped; light edge bumps; light wear to tips and flap folds; missing small pieces at head and top of front board. Gray paper over boards and spine with green lettering on the spine and front board. Clean internals. Inner hinges are sound and not split. 63 pp 8vo. This book is one of a series of 18 (14 about Britain, 4 about Scotland) travel books designed to be an admirable record of what is most worthy of attention in some of the fairest places. There are 12 reproductions of original water-color paintings by E. W. Haslehust, RBA in addition to descriptive text. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
