Il est l'un des disciples du missionnaire Louis Lallemant missionnaire au Canada.Il est recteur du collège de Quimper, directeur du noviciat des jésuites de Rouen, puis de celui de Paris. Homme laborieux et mortifié, il se levait à 2 heures du matin et s'interdisait l'usage du feu, même au plus fort de l'hiver. Il avait composé un grand nombre de sermons qui sont perdus; il publia : De la conduite, de la vie et des murs qui mènent au salut; La voie spacieuse et quelques autres opuscules.
