Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu.

Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. "The Fall of Christianity: A Study of Christianity the State and War" is a profound theological and historical examination of the relationship between the Christian faith, the institution of the state, and the morality of warfare. Gerrit Jan Heering explores the evolution of Christian thought, tracing the shift from the early church's commitment to non-violence to its later alignment with political power and the justification of military force. The work provides a critical analysis of how the primitive Christian witness was altered through its integration with state interests. Heering argues that this compromise represented a significant departure from original gospel teachings, leading to a spiritual and ethical "fall" that has influenced centuries of church history. By examining biblical foundations alongside historical developments, the text challenges readers to reconsider the Christian stance on nationalism and organized violence. This study remains a vital contribution to the fields of Christian ethics and peace studies, offering a rigorous critique of the religious justifications for conflict. It is a compelling resource for those seeking to understand the historical roots of pacifism and the ongoing tension between religious conviction and state allegiance. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
