Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Clean decorated binding - American edition, all text in English. Red cloth boards with white ship on a blue background, gold lettering on cover; gold lettering on spine. Small spots of wear to spine ends. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Small news article glued to front pastedown regarding the "Ayesha" + shadow from it on opposite free endpaper. Blind stamped embossment of previous owner name. All pages and edges are clean, no foxing; illustrated with photographs throughout. 223 pages. A World War I adventure - In November 1914, after their ship was destroyed in a battle with the Australian light cruiser HMAS Sydney, Mücke commandeered a topsail wooden schooner, Ayesha, to escape being taken as prisoners of war. The Ayesha was owned by Clunies-Ross of Cocos Keeling Islands. The party set sail from Direction Island.

Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Light tanning to spine and edges. Boards are slightly bowed. Slight forward lean to text block.
