Grattan on the frond endpaper, dated February 15th, 1907l there is a small piece missing to the leading edge of the rear endpaper; with a black and white photographic frontispiece of the author's 94 years old Mammy holding her charge, presumably the author.~~The quite dated sentiments of the author are revealed in the dedication: "To my children these stories are dedicated, hoping they will give some idea of the mutual fidelity and confidence of the master and servant in 'that position in life to which it had pleased God to call them". ~~God called Mammies to a subservient place!~~. Very Good binding.
