Unpaged - approx. 100 pages plus 32 pages of publisher's advertisements at rear. Paperback: H 19.25cm x L 13.25cm. Paper covers foxed, toned, and soiled with chipping at spine and fore-edge corners; small chip at spine head with 2cm loss at heel which affects title lettering and exposes quire tips. Usual strong toning to interior leaves as is typical for J.S. Ogilvie publications (the quintessential pulp printer of the era) with frequent chipping/creased fore-edge corners among initial and late leaves; some foxing spots discernable among the interior toning along with occasional minor ink smudges which are presumably inherent to the book's cheap production. Past owner's name stamp "William C. Lumpkin, | Tuskegee, Alabama." on front cover's blank verso. Binding remains firm. Translated to English from the original German; originally published under the title "Eine fuÌr Viele. Aus dem Tagebuche eines MaÌdchens." and issued in 1902 and 1903 editions by Leipzig publisher Seemann. However, unlike the Ogilvie title page where the author is specially cited as "Vera," OCLC cites the author of the German edition as Betty Kris. Furthermore the Ogilvie title page only declares Henry Britoff as the translator but OCLC credits both Henry Britoff and Henny Bernstein with cursory online research turning up other citations for Britoff but almost none for Bernstein so perhaps the latter was a pen name for the former.
