This is a first edition of Gene Autry & The Redwood Pirates, in which Gene Autry and his horse, Champ, find plenty go into the redwood country to investigate a rumor about a gang who is pirating timber in the forests along the Chicapoo River. Gene Autry w…as an American singer, songwriter, actor, musician and rodeo performer who gained fame as a singing cowboy in a crooning style on radio, in films, and on television for more than three decades beginning in the early 1930s. Whitman Publishing published many books for young people based on, and authorized by, various TV series of the day. Erwin L Hess was a comic book artist for Dell Publications from 1939 through the 1940s, as well as an illustrator for Whitman Publishing. Little is known about the writer of this book, Bob Hamilton. "Sublimely composed of four perfectly pure, crisp white petals immaculately registered on a brilliant green and black ground, Andy Warhol?s 'Flowers (Five Foot Flowers)' of 1964 encapsulates the indisputably iconic profile of Pop Art. Previously selected by John and Kimiko Powers, the renowned collectors who were foremost among Warhol?s earliest patrons, to be held in their esteemed collection, this painting represents the very essence of the artistic movement to which this artist is so indelibly integral. During the half century since their creation, Warhol's 'Flower' paintings have pervaded our global consciousness as the totemic standard of classic American Pop; their imagery acting as a metaphor for a generation that changed not only artistic but also social and political topographies in a supremely transformative decade. Warhol?s production of 'Flower' paintings has become the stuff of legend: during the summer of 1964 he created canvases in square formats measuring 82, 48, and 24 inches respectively, intended for a show with his new dealer Leo Castelli opening in New York in November of that year. While the series proliferated in order to fill the walls of the gallery, in October he ordered a silkscreen mechanical for a 60 by 60 inch, or five-foot square format. With this screen he made only four canvases, the rarest and most limited corpus of the entire original series of 'Flowers' to which the present work belongs.".

Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. 1st Edition. The History of Australian Football Shortlisted for the Australian Society for Sports History (ASSH) Biennial Book Prize Unlike every other sport that has captured the nation's interest, Australian football is not a copy, a clone, or a hand-me-down of Europ…ean culture. Rather, it is a game with special qualities, which arose from a distinctive series of events in the fledgling colony of Victoria, grew rapidly, and is now the most dominant sport in the country: a social, commercial, cultural and—for many—spiritual force. Australia's Game—the History of Australian Football describes, in forensic detail, the characters that led the way, how crises were faced and overcome, the great players and coaches who have influenced the ways the game has been played, the supporters who have stayed true to their club and have passed on their passion through generations, and most recently how the game has added another dimension with a flourishing national competition for women. 784pp This book weighs just over 1 kilo so may incur extra postage than quoted. The book may be collected from the Rotary Charity Book shop at Docklands, Melbourne View description.
