November 1964 ebenda) war ein deutscher Journalist, Rundfunkredakteur, Übersetzer und Medienwissenschaftler. Fischer war als Dramaturg, Kritiker, Hochschullehrer und Hörspielautor tätig. Bekannt ist er heute vor allem durch seine Schriften zur Theorie und Geschichte des Hörspiels ///////// Josef Krahé (* 9. März 1884 in Mühlheim; gest. 9. Oktober 1952 in Leipzig) war ein deutscher Schauspieler, Hörspielsprecher, Regisseur und Schriftsteller. Ab 1922 gehörte er dem Ensemble des Leipziger Schauspielhauses an, an dem er sowohl im komischen Fach als auch im modernen Drama reüssierte und zudem als Regisseur in Erscheinung trat. Zugleich war er einer der ersten Sprecher im Deutschen Rundfunk. Bei der Mitteldeutschen Rundfunk AG stieg er in den Zwanziger Jahren zum Chefsprecher, Hörspielleiter und Reporter auf.

The text includes a seven-page Foreword by Eric Peters, dated July, 1947 - followed by the 30-page Introduction by the author which forms the start of the book. ***PLEASE NOTE - This copy is from the library of Hungarian-born author, journalist, screenwriter, and psychoanalyst Paul Tabori, with his attractive bookplate. The boards show some light marks and rubbing commensurate with age and handling over the past 80+ years but are cleaner than usually found with this title - just some small marks to the back board and light creasing to the bottom edge of the front board (please see scans). Slight creasing to the head and tail of the spine. Corners quite sharp. Top edge of page block stained red by the publisher - remains unfaded. Some small spots to the fore-edge of the page block, which has a light abrasion, but which is otherwise clean. No reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. Internally the book is also very good, with the aforementioned bookplate on the front pastedown, and author-signed typed letter pasted onto the front free endpaper. ***The letter is written in German and dated 1. The interior pages are lovely and clean with none of the usual foxing - just light foxing spots to a few fore-edge margins and slight creasing to the fore-edge where the abrasion is. Signed by Helmut Ackerman the illustrator whose woodcuts grace the pages. Quarter bound, black cowhide over gre-green cloth and title stamped in gilt to the spine. No dust jacket, but is wrapped in glassine paper and then again with a loose mylar wrap. Housed in a sturdy soft grey slipcase with the title stamped in silver to the backstrip. Case shows soiling to one panel and some light wear, but remains stong. Lovely copy of this title originally published in 1927. The Basil Creighton translation revised by Joseph Mileck and Horst Frenz. Illustrated with woodcuts by Helmut Ackermann.

Some paper darkening to some early letters etc. A substantial collection of poems, letters, postcards exchanged between Hermann Hesse and other members of the Hesse family and Jacob "Köbi" Flach. Highlights of the collection include four handwritten poems, two handwritten letters and several handwritten or typed postcards from Hermann Hesse to Jacob Flach. In total ten documents are signed by Hermann Hesse with another four carrying his initials. Jacob "Köbi" Flach (1894 - 1982) was a Swiss Author, Painter, and Marionette Pupetteer (founder of the Ascona Marionette Theatre). Hermann Hesse met Flach for the first time in 1917 while sharing accommodation with him. The two men stayed in touch for many years and visited each other occasionally.
