Johann Baptist Michael Hetzrodt (1751-1830) war eine bedeutende Persönlichkeit während der französischen Besatzungszeit und des Vormärz. 1772 Promotion zum Dr. iur. Universität Trier (Prof. Neller), Praktikant am Reichskammergericht Wetzlar, 1779 Hochgerichtsschöffe am Oberhof Trier, Hofrat, Syndikus der weltl. Landstände des Obererzstifts, 1786 Mitglied des Stadtrates. In französ. Zeit war H 1795/96 Mitglied der Bezirksverwaltung Trier und der Zentralverwaltung Aachen. Infolge Memorandums über Notlage der Bevölkerung und Korruption unter Generaldirektor Bella 2 Monate Hausarrest, kurzer Aufenthalt in Paris, 1798/99 ist H Druckereibesitzer, Redakteur und Herausgeber u.a. der "Patriotischen Beiträge", des "Beobachters an der Saar", der "Politischen Zeitung im Saardepartement", ab 1814 der "Trier'schen Zeitung". Seit 1800 war H Richter am Zivilgericht. 1801 war er Initiator und erster Präsident der Gesellschaft für nützliche Forschungen zu Trier (vormals: Société des recherches utiles du département de la Sarre à Trèves). 1815 wurde H zum Mitglied der provisorischen Departementsverwaltung und 1816 zum Regierungsrat an der Regierung in Trier berufen. 1825 wurde H mit dem Titel Geheimrat pensioniert. Der Deckel des dargestellten Buches trägt die Beschriftung "ARCIS VALKENSTEYN". 1919 wurde die ehemals luxemburgische Burg (Ruine) Falkenstein, bis ins 16. Jh. auch Hinrichtungsstätte der Herrschaft Wiltingen (an der Saar!), mit dem im 19. Jh. historisierend erbauten Wohngebäude vom Trierer Rechtsanwalt Christian Stöck (1866-1953) erworben. Dieser hatte während der Französischen Besatzung des Rheinlandes eine wichtige Rolle in Trier gespielt, da er als ehrenamtlicher Beigeordneter 1923-24 den ausgewiesenen Trierer Oberbürgermeister von Bruchhausen als Leiter der Stadtverwaltung ersetzen musste. Wegen seines Verhaltens umstritten, zog er sich 1924 völlig aus dem öffentlichen Leben nach Falkenstein zurück. Seine 1930 erschienenen "Erinnerungen an die Besatzungszeit der Stadt Trier" schildern diese Zeit stellenweise als schlimmer für die Stadt als den vorherigen Krieg. Nach seinem Tod 1953 wurde die Burg verkauft und befindet sich noch heute in Privatbesitz.
