Condition: Good. 5.05 "x 7.15" on unbound sheet. Very good. Printed in black and white. Autographed in pencil by Robin Heyeck. Herb Yellin (1935-2014) was the highly respected publisher and founder of Lord John Press, considered by many to be one of the most important small presses of the 20th century. His close personal relationships with many significant writers resulted in an impressive number of unique, collectible, signed limited edition books. Working with some of modern literature's biggest names-Stephen King, Ray Bradbury, John Updike, Eudora Welty, and Joyce Carol Oates among them-and entertaining his personal fascination with Hollywood, Yellin was able to create a new realm for Lord John Press combining the two fields; several books, including The Lord John Film Festival, were the result.

Number 97 of 150 copies with 28 tipped-in samples of Robin Heyeck's marbled papers and signed by the author/marbler. Grey quarter leather with gilt spine lettering, white and grey marbled paper over boards. Slipcase. A fine copy. One of my favourites, I think, of recent books on marbled paper. One of the author's specialities is a flame-like marbling which sometimes decorates title-pages in her books. The book also contains a bibliography of all Heyeck books and private productions which employed marbling. This includes samples of the marbling together with bibliographic details of the work, the reason it was undertaken, and the conditions under which it was made. Signed by Author(s).

First Edition. January 17, 1988 letter on her personal letterhead describing in detail how, why, and where she got started. From the purchase, for her husband, of her 8 x 12 Chandler & Price Platen Press to the day, over a year later, that she first printed invitations for a housewarming party, "As soon as I saw pieces of paper coming out of the press, printed, I knew I would be doing this for the rest of my life. It was extraordinary, love, in fact." She describes how, at first, she thought she might make a business of printing stationery, taking out a business license to do so in 1976, the year she printed and published the first book from her Heyeck Press. "Twelve years later, I'm still printing and still loving it. John has forgiven me for taking over what was to be a hobby for him . My two sons are grown and I've become involved in paper marbling ." Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - A defining moment. A simple question. A lifetime of answers.Everyone who serves in the public square is faced with a unique set of challenges. Confronting these trials through the lens of faith presents unique challenges of its own, as well as reasoned solutions.Part memoir, part reflection, this retrospective by author Michael Heyeck chronicles-with honesty and conviction-his own personal journey from a prayerful youth in New Jersey, to being the longest-serving member and chair in the 168-year history of the City of Westerville, Ohio. This is not a partisan manifesto, nor a simple memoir. Rather, What Are We Looking For is a faith-informed examination of public service, written by a man who refused to separate conscience from responsibility.Inspired by a prophetic homily on the Feast of Christ the King-and guided by the teachings of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, multiple saints, and Catholic clergy-in this book, Heyeck challenges Catholics to move beyond church walls and engage the moral complexities of modern civic life with clarity, humility, and courage.Inside this book, readers will discover:A firsthand account of navigating faith and politics at the local level-where consequences are immediate and accountability is personalHow the author used his Catholic faith for understanding religious liberty, church and state, and the First AmendmentPersonal accounts of wrestling with the gray areas faced by faithful Catholics serving in governmentA compelling call to reclaim public service as a vocation to serve the public good, not a careerWith candor, humility, and hope, Michael Heyeck invites readers to rediscover the role of conscience in governance-and to serve the common good without fear.
