Very little Art Nouveau/Jugendstil/ found here, as it was in its infancy. The taste is much more florid, but there are a few hints of the coming style in the book decorations. NOTE: THIS IS THE CONTENTS ONLY WITH NO COVERS, but the edition is intact. Worthy of rebinding. Clean and tight but with some age toning to pages. Small pieces missing from lower outer corners of first two leaves (title page through page iv); no text missing.

A nearly-complete run covering the year from October 1900 to September 1901 of this popular artwork magazine. These issues all cover works of the Art Nouveau style, popular at that time. The June and July 1901 issues are missing. Included are contemporary advertisements, articles about the Darmstadt artists' colony, all sorts of decorative arts (ceramics, furniture, lighting, book decoration, metalwork, enamel, statues, glassware, etc.); what's happening in the salons of Paris, and more. The advertisements in the back of each issue are wonderful in themselves, with advertisers from all over Germany but also London and elsewhere. An excellent partial set for the researcher, lover of Art Nouveau, or for reference. Could be bound appropriately. All clean copies but for some toning. Some covers detached but present; some wear to spines in those cases. A bit of edge wear to some covers, but the Art Nouveau images are not affected. Most works are of the home decor type: furniture, ceramics, decorative metal, lighting fixtures, table wares, etc. Things like book bindings and illustrations, statuary, and a few textiles are included. Also features a section on the decorative arts section from the Dusseldorf exhibition of 1902 with many photos of works which debuted at the exhibition in Turin, also in 1902. In beautiful condition. VG clean and tight; light age toning to pages; gilt bright; only former owner's bookplate on ffep (Leo Baer).
