Orange cloth covers exhibit heavy wear, fraying and soiling to corners, edges and spine ends. Pieces of cloth missing on upper and lower spine ends. Heavy wear to hinges. Black lettering on spine and front cover with color illustration on front cover are soiled. Heavy shelf wear and soiling to covers and spine. Inside front and back covers exhibit heavy foxing and soiling. Soiling to text and illustrations. Pages have tears on the bottom hinge area going approx. 1/3 of the way up the pages. Hinges are cracked but still attached. Ex-lib with stamp on inside front cover. "Cheerful stories and funny pictures for good little folks. With colored illustrations after the original style. Decorative Cloth. Condition: Collectible; Very Good. Early 20th century reprint of this classic 19th century German children's cautionary tale. Solid and VG- in its pictorial dark-yellow cloth, with bright gilt-lettering and device at the front panel and spine. Darkening along the front panel edges and light soiling at the rear panel. Still though, attractive and presentable. Quarto, very impressive chromolithographed plates thruout.

Illustrated throughout in color. Large 8vo, publisher's red pictorial cloth stamped in gold and black. From the twenty-third edition of the celebrated German work of Dr. Henry Hoffman. 1906 Christmas gift inscription on front free endpaper; slight use to cloth; tight and sound; contents fine.
