Inscribed to the front "Dr Henry Woodward. F.R.S. With the author's compliments". Woodward was Keeper of Geology at the Natural History Museum in London. Beadnell summarises his own discoveries in the Libyan Desert for the Geological Survey of Egypt since its formation in 1896. He covers Abu Roash, Baharia, Farafra and Dakhla, Fayum, and the Nile Valley, touching also on the limited work conducted prior to this (most notably by Zittel during the Rohlfs Expedition of 1873-4). The map shows the location of Fayum, Baharia, Iddaila, Farafra, Dakhla, and Kharga. Inscribed by Author(s).

Inscribed in ink to the front "With the author's kind regards" without his signature. The previous owner's name "C.G. Cullis" penciled above this, would very likely be Professor Charles Gilbert Cullis (1871-1941), who had been with Imperial College's Geological Department since 1890, becoming its Chair of Mining Geology in 1930. Hugh Beadnell, FGS, FRGS (1874-1944), was at this time a Member of the Geological Survey of Egypt. This talk was presented to the 8th Session of the International Geological Congress in Paris on 21 August 1900, with the blessing of the Secretary of State, and the Survey of Egypt's Director General. Building on the work of Zittel who had accompanied Rohlf's expedition during 1873-74, it outlines Beadnell's discoveries during the last 3-4 years for the areas around Abu Roach and Beharieh (Bahariya) Oasis in particular. The map, "Principales depressions ou Oasis du Desert Libyen", shows the Nile from the Delta to Aswan to the east, and the Libyan Desert Oases to the west, with the author's routes individually dated during 1897-98. Very rare with OCLC listing only 2 holdings: Bibliotheque interuniversitaire Sainte-Genevieve; Universitatsbibliothek Erfurt (OCLC 494441445). Not recorded on Library Hub.
