Ibrahim Alaettin Gövsa (İbrahim Alâeddin Gövsa) (1889 - 1949, ), was a Turkish writer, poet, educator, humorist and politician. He is widely regarded as a pioneering figure in the development of Turkish children's literature. His volume Children's Poems, published in 1911, stands among the earliest collections of poetry written specifically for children in the Turkish literary tradition. Gövsa, a distinguished educator, also produced influential writings in psychology and pedagogy at a time when these disciplines were only beginning to gain recognition in Turkey. While his intellectual interests were broad, his most enduring contributions were made in the fields of biography and encyclopedic scholarship. His poem titled "Tavaf," published upon Atatürk 's death, was considered one of the masterpieces at the time. Worldcat shows the only copy at UCLA.
