Dabei wird danach gefragt, ob und inwiefern bislang bewahrte Integrationsmechanismen aufgrund innerer und ausserer gesellschaftlicher Entwicklungen versagen, ob neue Integrationsmechanismen an ihre Stelle treten, welche Bindungskrafte nationale Gesellschaften unter Globalisierungsbedingungen uberhaupt noch zusammen halten und welche Art von Integration heutzutage benotigt wird bzw. noch zeitgemass ist. Die einzelnen Beitrage verstehen sich als Anregung, um uber Integrationspotenziale und Integrationsnotwendigkeiten, aber angesichts der gegenwartigen Krisenprozesse auch uber Desintegrationstendenzen neu nachzudenken. In starker theoretischer Perspektive werden deshalb Desintegrationsdynamiken und die daraus resultierenden Konfliktpotenziale thematisiert.".
