Binding solid (staple bound). Interior pages are clean and unmarked. Typography specimen booklet issued by Adobe Systems Incorporated to introduce Viva, a multiple master typeface designed by Carol Twombly. Developed as part of Adobe Originals, Viva represents early 1990s innovation in digital typography using PostScript multiple master technology, allowing interpolation across design axes. The booklet explains multiple master typefaces, demonstrating variations in weight, width, style, and optical size generated from master designs. Viva is presented as a display typeface with two primary axes capable of producing a wide range of typographic expressions from light condensed to bold extended forms. Illustrated with progressive design studies, sketches, development trials, and finalized letterforms, along with specimen settings and applied design examples. A representative example of early digital type innovation and Adobe's transition to parametric typography.
