With printed note of thanks to someone who had helped with the exhibition dated, November 1931, and signed in ink by Clifford Copland Paterson (1879-1948), the President of the Institution tipped in on ffep. The note expresses Paterson's thanks to Mr W. Bawron for his demonstrations at the Royal Albert Hall, in September 1931, relating to the centenary of Faraday's discovery of electromagnetic induction. Clifford Paterson was a key figure, with Watson-Watt, in the secret radar work carried out at Bawdsey Manor, Suffolk, during the Second World War. Paterson played a vital role in VHF air communications during the Battle of Britain. During the First World War he had developed the Paterson-Walsh electric height finder, for determining the height of enemy raiding aircraft, and he became Director of GEC's Research Laboratory in the 1920s.
