Hardcover. Condition: Good. Rare original 1856 copy of Hitchcock's "Elementary Geology." The book is overall in good condition with some minor signs of wear and age. The covers have some mild wear with a little edge wear & corner wear. There is a very small section of cracking to the leather near the top of the front outer joint, but the binding is still good and sound. The book is illustrated with a folding hand tinted Paleontological Chart, a hand tinted folding diagram of veins in Sienite, and several other black and white illustrations. There are some old tape repairs to the underside of the folding Paleontological Chart. The interior is lightly toned from age with some occasional light foxing. Along with that there may be the occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as a tiny chip or tear, minor stain or marking, creased page corner, minor interior crack, etc. Generally though, it's a good copy. The book measures approximately 8 inches by 5 inches and is 424 pages long. Please look at all the photos to further note the condition.
