Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Bell, Nancy (translator); Traill, Henry Duff (Introduction) (illustrator). Souvenir of Mount Athos; no publisher or date shown but assumed to be around the 1920s; oblong format, 255 x 185mm; 30 leaves of thick coated card, each with one or two images on the versos of the leaves, the rectos left blank; captions are in Greek and French; red fabric covered boards, titled gilt; the front pastedown has a bookplate claiming "Russian Edition of the Panteleimonos Monastery" . . . . . The cover of the book is in a sad state. It appears to have been inundated on around 20% of the front cover. This has partly washed out the colouring, bobbled the cloth, stained the internal hinge area at the beginning and on the first leaf and broken the hinge. With the exception of some adherence at the foot of the opening contents page the image pages comprising the interior of the book are firm and in good condition as also is the back cover - hence poor to fair overall.

Hardcover. Condition: Poor. Bell, Nancy (translator); Traill, Henry Duff (Introduction) (illustrator). Printed for the Shakespeare Society, London, 1842; 8vo, 145 x 228mm; pp xxiv, 54, 10 (the last being the Report of the Council of the Society); poor to fair condition only - both hinges are broken and hence the boards are detached from the work; however the contents are in generally good, firm and clean condition albeit with some light or very light browning of the edges. . . . . . Notes of the conversation, which took place during a visit by Jonson to Hawthornden in 1618, had seemingly become lost but later turned up in the Edinburgh ADvocates Library and were duly printed by the Shakespeare Society in 1842.
