Real cloth-covered boards and sewn binding make this a very sturdy alternative to the Liveright editio…n. The spine is square and the hinges intact. Name and date on front flyleaf, else no marks. Tiny nick bottom edge two pages. A few rubbing marks to coth, and a little wear to the cloth at bottom edge. A few faint marks to fore-edge. Unclipped dustjacket has surface abrasions and edgewear, including a few small tears with creasing, with some shelf-soil showing on the back panel. Bulloch witht e regards of the pubisher and editor R.A. Walker 7 January 1925." An autograph letter from Walker to Bulloch is pasted dow t…o the rear endpaper and Bulloch's review of the book is affixed to the front endpaper. It is appropriate that Bulloch reviewed this book as he had promoted Beadsley's work in the 1890s. The main text is a lecture by A.W. King, a friend and tutor of Beardsley. He orignially delivered the lecture at the Blackburn Technical Institute where he the position of secretary. The book also icludes 15 full page sketches and copies of about 16 letters from Beardsley, many of which included smaller sketches. All of the letters and sketches had been in the possession of A.W. King and had never before been published. Several of the letters are of noteable content, one which tells of his first visit in 1891 to see the influential artist Edward Burne-Jones, and another describes his development of a new drawing style. Near fine in original light blue cloth boards with black and gilt leather title label to spine. Slight browning to spine and minor wear to spine ends. Light offsetting to front endpapers from inserted review, else very clean. An interesting association copy. Measures 7.25 x 9.50 inches. 103 pages. ART123109. Signed.
