No date 1840s - 668 pages with 8 introductory pages illustrated with frontispiece, vignette title page, and over 40 steel engraved plates taken from old masters as well as figures in text, and 1061 pages with 4 introductory pages (this volume appears to be missing frontispiece and vignet…te title) illustrated with one steel engraved plate and various figures in text Seventeenth Edition , volume 1 has two inch tear at the front edge of tail of spine and a similar tear at the rear edge of head of spine, corners a little scuffed, edges rubbed with some damage to cloth, frontispiece and title page show slight foxing spots as do margins of some other plates, volume 2, a little scuffed at corners, rubbed at edges with some damage to cloth, head and tail of spine slightly rubbed, missing frontispiece and vignette title page, front free end paper loosened, both tight solid copies in good to good+ condition , half black leather with black silk sides, gilt title to brown label on spine, five raised bands with gilt decoration, tooling to margins of leather, brown endpapers, all edges marbled [ HEAVY SET 5.1 kilos EXTRA POSTAGE NEEDED].
