Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Michael K. Yamaoka (illustrator). 1st Edition. First Edition (Number Line to 1). Once listed, this will be the Only signed copy for sale anywhere on the Internet. You can see the blue covers in the photos. They are exceptionally clean. The gilt lettering on both the front and spine is very bright. The cover edges are in excellent shape. There is one little dent at the bottom edge of the rear one. The cover corners are also in excellent shape. The page edges look very clean. The book is very solidly bound from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The inside covers and end papers are an attractive light green. They are all exceptionally clean and free of wear. The exact same thing can be said about all of the pages in the book, exceptionally clean and bright. I don't see any soiling at all. I'm not finding any creasing. There are no markings. No attachments of any kind. And the artist's dated signature on the front end paper is the only writing to be found anywhere. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. It's in very nice shape. I have always had it in a fitted protective cover. I don't see any tears. There is some toning off the top and bottom edges, and there's a little crinkling off the top edge of the spine. The flaps are in excellent condition as well, just some of the same amber toning off the top and bottom edges, no tears. The jacket is not priced or clipped. From the dust jacket: 'This book is a history-- of a man's journey in this world, but also of his struggle to sustain his spirit after a tragic loss. It was created as a tribute to Mr. Yamaoka's much-loved son, Kenneth, a young man of brilliant promise whose life ended two years ago in a fatal car accident. This is also a portrait of a father's courage, as many of the images were included because of their connection with Kenneth, or for the personal visual and emotional symbolism they hold for his father. In his choice to fight against despair, Mike Yamaoka has given us a book of photographs of singular beauty and power. These images invite us to join him on his journey of affirmation.' In addition to 103 beautiful photographs, Odyssey contains a powerfully written introduction by Samuel N. Antupit, an internationally renowned graphic designer, who is known for his work at Harper's Bazaar and Esquire Magazine. The book also features essays by Dr. Janet Adams Strong, architectural historian and Director of Communications and Photography at Pei Cobb Freed & Partners; Jerry Rotondi, former Art Director at Doyle Dane Bernbach; Masayoshi Furuhata, formerly President of Mitsui & Co., (USA) Inc.; and Kazuto Ohira, President, International Cultural Productions, N.Y.
