Fermín de Irayzos (O.S.A.) fue un insigne clérigo, teólogo y fraile perteneciente a la Orden de San Agustín (Agustinos Recoletos), que desempeñó también el cargo de capellán de su convento en la ciudad de Pamplona. Reconocido en su época por su vasto conocimiento en rúbricas, derecho canónico y teología sacramental, Irayzos redactó este compendio con un fuerte propósito pedagógico para evitar las desviaciones o errores de rito en las diócesis hispanas.
