Contemporary dark brown cloth rubbed and stained; slender wear along board edges particularly at bumped corners; old repair of spine's surface cloth glued down to brown paper affixed upon original underlying back-strip; losses to spine ends and along joints; spine's gilt lettering still reasonably bright. Text block edges toned; moisture staining to top edge and fore-edge with varied light tidelines at interior leaves' upper margins; large ragged losses to ffep and ffly; mid-19th century ink stamp "I.B. Morris | Att'y at Law, | Burlington, Iowa." at title page's top right; other interior foxing/toning; remnant impressions of erased pencil writing on rear endpapers with a few scattered pencil marks amongst text. Binding is firm. Twenty-eight page "Catalogue of Maps, Charts, Books, Etc., Published by J.H. Colton & Co. . . ." at rear. Book now presented in a trimmed clear Dura-Lar (polyester film) sheet forming a dj which modestly enhances shelf presence.
