First Edition Signed
Cloth. Condition: Near fine. Signed first edition of DUO; a photo series of bodybuilders Bob Paris and Rod Jackson by Herb Ritts. (illustrator). First Edition. Folio, [64pp]. Gray cloth, title in gilt on front cover. Solid text block, a near fine example. Signed by both Bob Paris and Rod Jackson on the half-title. Bob Paris (b. 1959) is a former professional bodybuilder, actor, and author. He became one of the first openly gay figures in the hyper-masculine realm of bodybuilding, fostering greater acceptance and diversity within the sport. This, combined with his emphasis on aesthetic beauty and grace over sheer muscle mass contributed to a shift in the world of sports. Paris was in a long term relationship with fellow bodybuilder and subject of this series, Rod Jackson. Herb Ritts (1952-2002) was an American fashion photographer and director renowned for his iconic black-and-white portraits of celebrities and models. His work, characterized by a distinctive blend of elegance and simplicity, strongly influenced popular culture in the 1980s and 90s.
