Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Complete 9-Volume Set. 6 original volumes (A-Z and Supplement) plus 3 supplemental volumes. Maroon cloth covers with gilt top edges (except volumes 8 and 9). Fore and bottom edges are uncut. Each volume is about 400 to 600 pages long. Most spines are slightly sunned, and covers have some light wear. A few hinges are starting (but most are fine). Minor age-toning to the pages. Ex-library (at most there are one or two stamps within books, and each volume appears to have had a bookplate removed). Text bodies are free from underlining, highlighting, or notes. Full refund if not satisfied.

This famous dictionary gives a key to the authorship of anonymous and pseudonymous works published during the whole period of book production in the English language from the fifteenth century to 1950. The new and enlarged edition of Halkett and Laing appeared in six volumes between 1926 and 1932 and was followed in 1934 by a final volume containing an index and a second supplement. Two further supplementary volumes were issued; the first [volume VIII, published 1956] containing editions from 1900 as far as 1949, and the second [volume IX, published 1962] consisting entirely of additions and corrections to the period before 1900. [The latter two volumes have been edited by Dennis E. Rhodes and Anna E. C. Simoni]. Heavy item - shipping supplement may apply for overseas.
